Why German School? – Our Mission

German School of Monmouth County Class

“Those who know no foreign language know nothing of their mother tongue.” – Goethe

Our Mission
We believe that in learning a new language you learn more about your own culture and country.

We give students the opportunities to learn German, a language that is not often a world language option in school. We are dedicated to opening new doors through learning to read, write and speak German and by participating in Germanic cultural events. German offers students the opportunity to stand out among their peers with a broad range of experiences that prepare them to become global citizens.

We are able to offer customized programs to meet the needs of students & their families from small groups to one-on-one tutoring at our two campuses or by appointment.

Why a German School on the Jersey Shore?
The German School of Monmouth County (GSMC) was formed in 2007 by parents with a commitment to international education and the goal of introducing children and adults to today’s German-speaking Europe.  GSMC is a parent-supported organization open to native and non-native speakers.

We are accredited by the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG) and a member of the German Language School Conference (GLSC).   The German School of Monmouth County is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization and does not discriminate by race, color, religion, gender, age, country, or ethnic origin.

Faculty
GSMC provides high-quality German instruction to all ages by trained German-speaking teachers using new and adapted teaching methods from Germany. We ensure students hear the proper accent from teachers who are relaxed, confident and comfortable in speaking, reading and writing German.
